Thats what people have been doing.
so first up.
heres some pixel art that i found

you also might need fonts. so i have a font generator link here.
Font Generator

you click the font you want and then at the top type what you wish to have
make sure you save as because other wise it wont be transparent and you dont get the nice outline.

im not going to show you HOW to do this cause simply you can do it in paint
its not hard to cut ur avatars parts and place them over top.
